Arne Slot one step from calling TIME on Liverpool star's Anfield career
Arne Slot seems ready to call time on one Liverpool star's Anfield career. It seems this is the end of the line.
Arne Slot has let got of an awful lot of first-team Liverpool players so far. Of course, there were limited first-team sales in his first season but 2025? Half the squad has changed.
It's been quite brutal, really. Liverpool have willingly parted ways with some top talent in an attempt to reshape the squad under the Dutchman.
That's a process that hasn't yet ended, either. Liverpool will look to sign players and sell players in 2026 as they seek an ideal squad for Slot.
It means the cuts will continue and another now looks set in stone. Slot is one step away from green lighting it.
Joe Gomez's future
Milan Live makes it clear that Liverpool will sanction Joe Gomez's exit if they find a replacement. The Reds are essentially one step away from calling time on his Anfield career.
It's a massive one, really. Gomez is the longest-serving player at the club, having been a first-team player with Liverpool since before even Jurgen Klopp took over.
But Slot is incredibly reluctant to actually play him. It means the likes of AC Milan are ready to sign the defender, much as they were back in August.
Gomez was supposed to leave that month as Liverpool thought they were signing Marc Guehi. Crystal Palace collapsed that deal at the last minute, however, ending any chances of the Reds letting theri player leave for Italy.
But that all very much remains the plan. Liverpool want to sign a centre-back and let Gomez leave - a player who quite clearly doesn't have a long-term future with the Reds.
