The transfer deadline is coming up fast and Liverpool still have deals to strike. And now another can be added to the pile.

There are just two days to run on the transfer window before the deadline strikes and clubs are stuck with what they've got. Liverpool have done plenty of business already, of course, but there's still quite a lot to get through.

Alexander Isak is at the top of the shortlist. Liverpool still harbour dreams of striking a deal there and Newcastle United's deal for Nick Woltemade suggests progress can finally be made.

Marc Guehi is another Liverpool hope to sign shortly. That one depends on Crystal Palace deciding exactly how much they want to sell their captain before his contract expires next summer.

And then you've got the exits. Harvey Elliott has been linked with a move to RB Leipzig, while we're still not 100 per cent sure on Federico Chiesa's colours this season.

But there's now another potential exit, too.

Joe Gomez to AC Milan?

Gianluca Di Marzio claims AC Milan have turned their attention to Joe Gomez as they search for a new centre-back. They sold Malick Thiaw to Newcastle this summer and want to upgrade on him.

They've got Manuel Akanji of Manchester City on their shortlist, however he's not given them the green light for a move. That means Milan need alternatives and Gomez is right there.

Gomez would almost certainly be at least semi-available if Guehi arrived at Anfield. The Reds currently have four centre-backs, with Gomez behind Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate in the pecking order.

We imagine he'd be behind Guehi, too. Giovanni Leoni might be preferred at centre-back but we'll need to wait and see on that one.

As things stand, though, Gomez does not have a clear role in the side, especially if Guehi does join early. An exit isn't out of the question, then - but there are a few moving parts here that must align.

Let's see what the deadline brings.
