Star gets green light for move after deadline day glitch
Liverpool missed out on the signing of Marc Guehi right at the end of the summer transfer window.
A deal to take the Crystal Palace captain to Anfield had been agreed - reportedly worth £35m plus £10m in add-ons.

Guehi, 25, was delighted with the outcome - undergoing a Liverpool medical on Monday and the stage was set for his transfer.

Owing to a last-minute hitch however, Crystal Palace called the deal off.
Gomez STAYS despite Milan and Palace interest
Unable to find a suitable replacement, the FA Cup holders pulled out of a deal and left Liverpool without the defender they required.
Igor Julio was supposed to arrive at Selhurst Park from Brighton but ended up at West Ham instead. In an attempt to plug the gap at the heart of their backline, the Eagles are reported to have put Joe Gomez on their list of Guehi replacements.
No deal was concluded on deadline day for the 28-year-old - who was also the subject of interest from AC Milan.
However there remains the possibility that the England international will be LEAVING Anfield in January.
That’s according to a new report from Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, who claims it would be no surprise if bids materialised in the new year.
No surprise if interest comes in January
“There’ll be a lot of dominoes to fall potentially, for Joe Gomez to leave Anfield”, O’Rourke said.
“The thing is with Joe Gomez is that he’s happy at Liverpool, he’s in no rush to leave.
“It’s no surprise that clubs like AC Milan were looking at Gomez – they were looking to bring in a new centre-back.
“There was even interest from Brighton late on in the window and Palace had him on their list as well if they did lose Guehi.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s interest in Joe Gomez in January, but a lot will depend on how things are going at Liverpool.”
Should Liverpool keep Gomez?
Gomez has been at Anfield since 2015 and is currently contracted until 2027. With Liverpool’s current array of centre-back options, it would be a surprise if Arne Slot decided to let him go.
Aside from first-choice pair Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, the head coach only has Gomez and Giovanni Leoni at his disposal this season.
Unless Liverpool manage to get Guehi or else an alternative defender in January, we could probably expect Gomez to remain.
