Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace was a result that fell into insignificance now that the title has been wrapped up and the players had their minds firmly focussed on the afterparty.

But when once everything started to die down, the world's media was invited in to the proceedings and a whole host of interviews were delivered. Ibrahima Konate's was a fascinating listen.

Konate drops Liverpool future hint

Speaking to the French network Canal+ about the title win, he said: "No, it's incredible, especially [with such] a beautiful trophy. I dreamed of it. I was waiting for it so much."

"I hope it's the first in a long series too."

While this is a particularly cryptic translation from French to English, this claim is presumably in relation to the Premier League, although it could also relate to him simply winning a league title.

But until this is cleared up, I think we can definitely consider it to be a positive hint about his future.

The last inclination we received from the Frenchman that he might be remaining at Liverpool next season was following the Reds win over Tottenham at Anfield - a game that sealed the title win.

At the time, he sat in the stands at the stadium once everyone had left and he revealed to the club's website that he felt incredibly emotional about what he had achieved. The feeling of understanding what it was like for the fans to be at Anfield was 'indescribable' and he was 'close to crying'.

Alas, Liverpool fans had hope that Konate might reconsider contract talks with the club. I mean, why would you choose to leave after that? Although the emotions don't seem to have been able to change Trent Alexander-Arnold's perspective on leaving, so we're left in the dark once again.

Konate moving to Paris Saint German is a legitimate possibility, given the package that he is being offered, and Liverpool might be forced into selling him if a contract breakthrough isn't on the cards.

And he would almost certainly experience more league titles if he joined the Parisian giants, but success with PSG surely wouldn't mean more to him that this season's win with Liverpool, would it?

That's the ultimate question. As a Frenchman who grew up in the capital, the temptation to move on is going to be massive, so the correct translation of what he means when he says "I hope it's the first in a long series as well" will be crucial. For now at least, we have good reason to think positively.
