Liverpool told European champion could join for LESS than €60m
Liverpool have got some problems to solve at centre-back this summer. We could see Ibrahima Konate SOLD if no new agreement is reached over a contract.
With his current deal expiring in summer 2026, the club and Konate’s entourage have so far not come to a satisfactory resolution over an extension.

Rather than lose him for nothing in 2026, sporting director Richard Hughes may well opt to cash in. And there is uncertainty too over Jarell Quansah.

The 22-year-old is highly rated but remains behind Konate in the pecking order. An attractive bid of £30m to £40m from any potential suitor could see the homegrown prospect depart.
Joe Gomez, Liverpool’s current longest-serving player, could be coming to the end of his tenure at the club. The 28-year-old initially failed to win over Arne Slot and then saw his season curtailed due to injury.
With Liverpool entertaining bids from the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle last summer, we could see a repeat of the situation this off-season.
Liverpool interested in Goncalo Inacio
That leaves ONLY Virgil van Dijk among Liverpool’s senior centre-back options as a guaranteed squad member for next season. With the scale of the changes coming down the track, Hughes and Slot will require reinforcements before long.
Jarrad Branthwaite, Marc Guehi and Jorrel Hato are among the candidates tipped to arrive at Anfield this summer but there is another name again appearing on the list.
Goncalo Inacio, 23, was first linked with the Reds ahead of last summer’s transfer window. The Sporting CP centre-back is tied to his boyhood club until 2027 and is reported to have a €60m release clause in his contract.
Last season he won the league and cup double with the Portuguese capital side - and also became a European champion in the UEFA Nations League with the national team.
Liverpool, Newcastle and Man Utd looking at Inacio
A report in O Jogo now claims that Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester United are all interested in adding the left-sided defender to their squads this summer.
Moreover, it’s being reported in Portugal that they could well have him for LESS than the aforementioned clause.

Last season, Inacio played 42 times for Sporting in all competitions, scoring on six occasions and providing three assists. He started the Nations League final against Spain on Sunday, playing 75 minutes before being replaced.
