Liverpool's IDEAL midfielder is now available for only £52m
Liverpool made £450m worth of signings in the summer transfer window.
But they declined to add any midfielders as part of that splurge. Instead British record fees were agreed for both Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak - while Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giovanni Leoni and Giorgi Mamardashvili also arrived.
Last season the load was very heavy on Arne Slot’s midfield options. The Dutch tactician opted to use Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and to a lesser extent Wataru Endo.
Liverpool’s array of midfielders has got even smaller this term - with James McConnell and Harvey Elliott going on loan and Tyler Morton completing a permanent deal with Lyon.
Liverpool eye up midfield reinforcements
Accordingly, the strain is beginning to tell - with all but Szoboszlai experiencing injury trouble already this term.
Richard Hughes may correct that obvious transfer misstep in January or else next summer and there is an ideal candidate available for only £52m (€60m).
Eduardo Camavinga, 23, has been with Real Madrid since leaving Rennes back in 2021.
He was signed as one of the best up-and-coming young midfield prospects in the world - delivering on his potential with two Champions League titles.
Under contract until 2029, the France international has nonetheless fallen out of favour since the installation of Xabi Alonso as head coach.
Madrid will deal at €60m for Camavinga
Camavinga is struggling for starts in his preferred midfield positions - and cannot get a look in at left-back these days either.
The 15-time European champions are willing to let Camavinga go - according to a report in E-Noticies - and a price of €60m (£52m) has been set.
“Real Madrid are considering selling the French midfielder if an offer of 60 million euros arrives,” the report reads.
That in time could be an incredibly low price for a player of Camavinga’s quality - who is renowned as one of the best progressive passers around.
It’s just not working out for him right now at the Bernabeu - but he could improve the Reds’ midfield options as an alternative to Alexis as well as Gravenberch.
