Liverpool Transfer News: Darwin Nunez gives green light to MEGA move

Liverpool striker situation has been evolving slowly over the past couple of weeks.

While a lot has happened in a short space of time, the updates seem to be happening quite slowly.

But the Frenchman is certainly a talented asset and we will all get behind him as he attempts to prove his worth over the next few years. However, this week has got us all excited about Alexander Isak again, with a move for him appearing to be a concrete possibility. Two new first-team striker signings.

Of course, he will also cost an extraordinary amount of money, but you would struggle to find a player Liverpool want more. He's the holy grail of the Premier League. What a scalp it would be to sign him.

Just a few things stand in the way of such a move. Newcastle finding a replacement for him and getting a deal over the line and Liverpool shifting Darwin Nunez in order to make room for Isak. Well, the part of that scenario that the Reds can actively control is starting to hot up a bit. A move is likely.

Nunez green lights potential departure route

The main likelihood for Nunez is a move to Saudi Arabia. The current European market is unwilling to take a risk on him at the valuation that Liverpool are persistently holding and Al Hilal still want him.

Of course for Liverpool, this situation is ideal. A financial return anywhere close to the €75m flat fee paid for him three years ago would be an unbelievable piece of business. The Saudis can offer that.

But for the last few weeks, we've seen countless updates about their interest and nothing has really come from them, since Nunez's personal terms are essential to any potential deal going through.

David Ornstein's recognition of the negotiations this week as meant the saga has stepped up a level, so we can definitely consider this transfer to be a concrete possibility now. It's no longer a rumour.

And if Rudy Galetti at TEAMtalk is to be believed, then we might finally have an indication about what the player actually thinks to all this. Moving to the Middle East at 26-years-old is not a common thing.

His report claims: "Nunez has given the green light to a potential transfer to Al-Hilal, and is open to making the move if Liverpool and the Saudi club reach an agreement.

"The forward has been impressed by Al-Hilal's ambitious long-term project especially with the recent appointment to Simone Inzaghi as head coach."

If TEAMtalk's sources are reliable, then this update is enormous for the saga, since the sticking point has long been that Nunez is unwilling to leave Europe quite yet. This changes things significantly.

Of course, negotiations will have to take place surrounding the player's contract and the fee agreed between the clubs might need to be structured in a particular way in terms of add-ons and bonuses.
