David Ornstein gives HUGE Marc Guehi boost after Liverpool talks confirmed
Liverpool have got plans to add Marc Guehi to their squad before the summer transfer window closes.
The Reds have got a degree of uncertainty in the centre-back position - boasting only THREE senior options in Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez - as well as recently arrived teenager Giovanni Leoni.

Having sold Jarell Quansah - and with the future of Konate up in the air - it would be wise for Richard Hughes and Arne Slot to add another proven performer in the heart of the defence.

Reports linking the Premier League champions to Marc Guehi have been rumbling all summer but so far no deal has been concluded.
Talks take place for Guehi
The Crystal Palace captain is rated at around £40m by the FA Cup holders - and like Konate he’s got a contract which expires in 2026.
The Eagles are desperate to prevent the 25-year-old from leaving for free next year and are so far sticking to their valuation.
And The Athletic’s David Ornstein provided an update on Guehi’s situation over the weekend - confirming that exploratory talks had taken place for the England defender.
Palace looking for Guehi alternatives
The transfer supremo also revealed that Palace had been studying the list of replacements in case Guehi goes - suggesting they are resigned to losing their skipper before long.
“Marc Guehi is a player who may leave Crystal Palace as well,” Ornstein told NBC Sports.
“They are looking for alternatives if that happens. Liverpool have held initial talks but he may stay and see out the final 12 months of his contract and leave as a free agent in 2026.”
It looks like Guehi will end up at Liverpool
So either way it looks like Liverpool WILL end up signing Guehi. They can bring him on board this summer if they meet Palace’s demands or else snare him on a free next year.
Guehi was nonetheless in the starting lineup for Oliver Glasner’s side for their opening day fixture at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.
The stopper was seen to be ignoring his manager on the full-time whistle - perhaps suggesting that all may not be rosy at present in the camp.
