Ex-Liverpool boss wants money-spinning deal for Mo Salah
Mohamed Salah is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
The Egyptian King, 33, is set to depart after nine glorious years. Richard Hughes - the Liverpool sporting director - has ripped up the forward’s contract - which was worth £400k per week.
Originally slated to leave the club in 2027 Salah will now be entitled to have his pick of destinations for a money-spinning deal.
Saudi Arabia once again leads the race for Salah - despite recent speculation that Saudi-led spending will be slowing down.
PIF-owned clubs including Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli are all still interested in a deal for the two-time African player of the year according to a report in TEAMtalk.
Al-Qadsiah come forward for Salah deal
And that quartet will now be joined in their efforts to sign Salah by Brendan Rodgers-led Al-Qadsiah - backed by Saudi ARAMCO.
“The Saudi Pro League are stepping up their pursuit of Mohamed Salah, and there is growing confidence that the Egyptian superstar will complete a move this summer – though his final destination could be at a surprise club, and with five teams now in the mix for his signature,” the report reads.
“The Public Investment Fund-backed quartet of Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli all remain firmly in the race for his signature.
“In the case of Al-Hilal, their interest persists despite a recent change in ownership following the involvement of Kingdom Holding Company, backed by Prince Al Waleed bin Talal Al Saud.
“Another contender is emerging in the shape of Al-Qadsiah. The club, owned by Aramco and managed by Brendan Rodgers, are positioning themselves as a serious option.”
Salah's final season struggles
Salah has not enjoyed his best season on Merseyside - registering only six Premier League goals and struggling for impact in Arne Slot’s confused system.
He fell out with the club back in December having been dropped for a top-flight clash at Leeds United.
However he was restored to the lineup prior to the Africa Cup of Nations - but his lack of form and spat with management have provided a major distraction for Liverpool this season.
