Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool star wants to follow ‘brother’ Trent to Madrid
Liverpool fans are reeling from the loss of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid. The 26-year-old declined a new contract at Anfield - paving the way for a high-profile transfer to the 15-time European champions.
His conduct since the exit was announced hasn’t gone down well with supporters, with Trent now with his new teammates for the FIFA Club World Cup.

The impact on the field will be mitigated somewhat by the addition of Jeremie Frimpong, who can provide creativity down the right side of the attack.

The Reds also have Conor Bradley for more regular right-back duties and the imminent acquisition of Florian Wirtz will go someway towards replacing Trent’s playmaking talents.
Andy Robertson future in doubt
But Alexander-Arnold might not be the only Liverpool star swapping Merseyside for Madrid this summer. It’s been revealed by Fabrizio Romano that Atletico Madrid see Andy Robertson as a “priority” target in this window.
With Reinildo Mandava and Cesar Azpiliceuta out of contract following the FIFA Club World Cup, Diego Simeone will require a new left-back.
Robertson has already plunged his Liverpool career into doubt - admitting after the final match of the season that he didn’t know what the future held.
Robertson 'keen' on Atletico move
Arne Slot and Richard Hughes are set to move on from the 31-year-old with the signing of Milos Kerez from Bournemouth. Given the long-serving Robertson has only one year left on a deal worth a reported £160k per week - he could well be sacrificed in the next few weeks.
And, according to Romano, the Scotland international is enthusiastic about following Trent to the Spanish capital.
“Understand Robertson’s keen on joining Atléti and initial talks have already started,” the Italian transfer supremo wrote on X. “Atlético consider Robertson as their priority, as revealed.”
Robbo's tribute to 'brother' Trent
The duo has provided a prolific full-back partnership to the Reds over the years - leading to titles in the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and more.

Robbo described Alexander-Arnold as his “brother” in a recent Instagram post and the two could well end up neighbours - albeit rivals in LaLiga next season.
