Agent gives Newcastle CLEAR answer in deal for Isak forward replacement
Liverpool remain hopeful that a deal for Alexander Isak will be concluded before the transfer window closes on Monday.
Newcastle have set out their conditions for a sale - namely that the Reds need to meet an asking price approaching £150m and the Magpies need to bring in two forwards.

One of those crucial dominoes has now fallen with the news that Nick Woltemade has joined. However the former Stuttgart striker is NOT considered an Isak replacement - according to reports he has come in to replace Callum Wilson.

That leaves Newcastle a striker short - although they still have other irons in the fire. The Geordies want Yoane Wissa - although the chances of that deal are looking a little more remote.
Newcastle contact Lautaro
Still, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes will be watching events closely. Once Newcastle get the second forward they desire then it is FAR more likely that they will sanction a deal for Isak.
One player they have reportedly targeted in an ambitious move is Inter’s captain Lautaro Martinez. According to reports in Argentina - as relayed by Italian outlet Calciomercato - the Magpies attempted to sign the Argentina World Cup winner this week.
Martinez, 28, is under contract at the Champions League runners-up until 2029 and it would be shocking if they agreed a sale. Regardless, Eddie Howe’s efforts did not get far.
Lautaro AIRS Newcastle
“According to reports in Argentina, Newcastle attempted to contact Lautaro Martinez's agent, Alejandro Camano, to inquire about the situation of the number 10 and Inter captain,” the report reads.
“However, the agent didn't answer the phone. A firm refusal from the striker's entourage, who have only the Nerazzurri club in mind.”
Newcastle have been aired yet again.
Time running out for Isak deal?
They have been brutally unsuccessful in landing their top targets this summer - ending up in them paying a £70m premium for Woltemade.
Hugo Ekitike, Joao Pedro, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha are just a selection of the names who declined the opportunity to play up top for the North East side.
There is a lack of pulling power there - with Ekitike of course choosing Liverpool instead.
The Reds better hope that one more striker takes the plunge before the deadline - which would then allow Arne Slot to name Isak as the club’s next No9.
