Liverpool now in talks to FINALLY land 23-goal striker
Liverpool are reportedly in talks to sign a striker with 23 goals in major competitions this season. The Reds have been chasing this one for some time.
Liverpool want to sign a new striker this summer, and for good reason. Everyone watching the Reds this season can see a clear path to improvement.

The current pair, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez, simply aren't reliable enough. Jota just can't get onto the pitch regularly, playing a little over one-third of Liverpool's Premier League minutes this season.
Nunez is frequently available but he just doesn't offer enough goals. It was always something held against him at Liverpool and he's actually gone backwards under Arne Slot.
Liverpool, then, will be looking to make moves this summer and find themselves a reliable no.9. Top of that list appears to be Alexander Isak of Newcastle United, though that one might not be particularly realistic.
Newcastle want record-breaking money in order to sell their prized asset. There's a sense that Liverpool, as much as they'd like Isak, don't believe he's that much better than someone like Hugo Ekitike.
And while we're talking about 'better' deals, Liverpool are supposedly looking into one of the bargains of the summer.

Liverpool in Jonathan David talks
The Boot Room claims that Liverpool have been in contact with Jonathan David's agents ahead of the summer. They're sounding out the potential for a free transfer, with the Canadian's contract expiring on July 1st.
Now, there's plenty of competition for David. The striker, who has 23 goals this season across Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League, has Arsenal and Barcelona looking into deals, too.
Barcelona is apparently his favoured destination. David could comfortably see himself as the successor to Robert Lewandowski and his lack of transfer fee certainly keeps that door wide open.
But Liverpool would be mad not to look into this one. They've tracked David for a long, long time - he was on their shortlist back when Jota signed in 2020.
We've also said before that signing the Canadian is the best way to completely overhaul the attack this summer. Get him in on a free transfer and the funds should still be there for a second forward.

This is a particularly interesting one, then, and worth keeping an eye on. We're not sure David is 'the one' for Liverpool this summer but with fees skyrocketing and competition mounting, he remains the best value-for-money signing on the market.
