Liverpool star CONFIRMS he could be on the brink of leaving the club

The clock is ticking towards some Liverpool exits. This squad won't be sticking together much longer, surely?

Liverpool overhauled their squad in 2025 but the work isn't done. More players will arrive in 2026 and that means more players will leave.

The sheer number who departed last summer is notable, though. The Reds moved on from a large chunk of Jurgen Klopp's squad, with Trent Alexander-Arnold the headline.

Few remain from the great 2018-2020 group, in fact. Only really Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Alisson Becker. Of those who played a starring role, anyway.

And the clock is ticking on their futures. One of them is certainly open to leaving later this year - and could be on the brink of an emotional exit.

Andy Robertson's future

Andy Robertson has essentially confirmed the real possibility that he could leave Liverpool this summer. The Scot's contract will expire and it's incredibly unclear whether he'll get a new one.

Or whether he'll want a new one. There's no doubt that Robertson would prefer to remain with the Reds but only if he's going to play regularly.

Signing Milos Kerkez forced the Liverpool legend to the bench - he's started just four Premier League games this season and will finish the campaign with the fewest league starts of his career. Robertson, then, knows he may need to leave.

"Yes [I want to stay], but it's a difficult question," he said, per the BBC.

"I've got five months left and we need to see what the option is to stay or if there's options to go and things like that. I need to sit down with my family and decide."

Robertson then explicitly discussed not being in the team.

"I can focus on the last eight and a half years," he said. "I think Jurgen Klopp left me out for one game and I was raging. So I'm a player who wants to play.

"I've played through injuries. I've played when I'm not 100% fit. I've played when I've only been 50/40/30% fit for this club and my country. I always want to be on the grass and playing and obviously now that's not happening, so that's what is different.

"I have a different role here this season which I'm getting enjoyment out of, but at the end of the day, footballers want to play and if anyone is sat happy on the bench, then they don't belong at any football club.

"That's always my argument, you should always want to push to be in the team. If you're happy to sit on the bench, then I don't think you have the right attitude.

"I think I've played well in the games I've played this season. Maybe I've not played as much as I would have liked, but it's nothing I've been surprised by. Let's see what happens."

We'll have to wait and see on this one, then. It doesn't appear that Arne Slot is about to back Robertson as his first-choice left-back anytime soon, which really might be enough to force him out of the club.

A massive summer, then, as Liverpool could lose yet another club legend.
