Liverpool are to battle Chelsea once again. This time it's to rescue a £50m Brazil star.

Liverpool find themselves bumping into Chelsea in the transfer market quite a lot these days. The most recent came in the January window, with both clubs hoping to sign Jeremy Jacquet.

Reports indicated - strongly, even - that Chelsea led the race. Jacquet supposedly preferred a move there and the Blues were to push for a deal that saw the player move in January.

Liverpool, on the other hand, were willing to strike a deal in preparation for a summer arrival. Discussions with Jacquet and Rennes went back and forth with both clubs - but the Reds won out in the end.

They signed Jacquet in a deal that officially goes through in the summer. They secure one of the brightest centre-back prospects in football as a result, leaving Chelsea to look elsewhere.

Murillo at Nottingham Forest

The Premier League's relegation battle is throwing up some interesting potential transfers as big sides are threatened with the drop. One of those sides is Nottingham Forest, who are enduring what is essentially the absolute opposite of their campaign last term.

Relegation would force them to offload some big names, one of which has been on the radars at Liverpool and Chelsea for a little while now. Murillo is one of the most interesting defenders in the Premier League - and he could be up for grabs.

Football Insider reports that he has no intention of playing in the Championship and would push hard for a move if Forest go down. This is a player who commanded a £50m price-tag in January but almost certainly moves for less than that after a relegation.

Chelsea are named as the frontrunners here, but Liverpool are watching the situation. We imagine the club would only go all-out on Murillo once they're certain of Ibrahima Konate's future.

That's something that should become clear over the next couple of months. Murillo, then, is absolutely one to watch ahead of the summer window - especially if Forest are the club who eventually go down.
