Since the start of the season, Ryan Gravenberch has looked transformed in a new position.

Under new head coach Arne Slot, the midfielder has transitioned into the number six role after Liverpool lost out on top target Martin Zubimendi this summer.

Since the start of the season, Gravenberch seems to have cemented himself within Slot's starting XI. He has been dominant in the midfield, looking to press high while also displaying some outstanding defending.

Gabriel Agbonlahor makes bold Gravenberch claim

Against United, Gravenberch was outstanding once again. He was all over the pitch, consistently looking to push forward and looked physically strong and powerful.

He played a part in Liverpool’s opening two goals - notably dispossessing his far more experienced counterpart, Casemiro.

Former Aston Villa player Gabby Agbonlahor has named Gravenberch in his team of the week on talkSPORT.

He said the Dutchman's performance was that good, he "retired Casemiro".

[On Gravenberch] "I thought he was outstanding yesterday." said Agbonlahor.

"I really feel he probably retired Casemiro. He can have that on his CV, I retired one of the best defensive midfielders to play the game.

"I felt that his energy levels, his running off the ball, his running at pace, his little touches, I thought he was a delight to watch. He's been like that all season, I feel if you asked him last season he would've been frustrated at his game time.

"But you can see why Jurgen Klopp brought him to the club. He's a very talented midfielder with legs and you can ask any midfielder, they hate playing against midfielders with legs."
