Liverpool need FORGOTTEN Jurgen Klopp signing more than ever

One of Jurgen Klopp's signings is needed more than ever at Liverpool. So why isn't he starting any games?

Liverpool are in their worst form since the 1950s in what is turning into a disaster of a season. The last time the Reds lost nine in 12 games was the last time they were relegated - they finished bottom 76 years ago and have never had a season as bad as that since.

And yet, here we are. Liverpool can't find a way to any consistency as they struggle game after game.

They've lost three games on a bounce by three goals. Two of those have come at Anfield in the space of a few days. It has never been this bad - not since Liverpool became Liverpool.

So what's to be done? Well, we can't imagine Arne Slot puts his team out in the exact same system we've seen week after week. Surely?

And that means it's probably time to turn to a Jurgen Klopp signing who has fallen completely out of favour.

Wataru Endo must come back

Remember last season when Wataru Endo was simply used as a player who could solidify the side late on and essentially kill the game when Liverpool were winning? That's all Slot really saw him for - someone who could play a role only when the plan was stopping goals rather than scoring them.

Well guess what? That's now the plan from the start. Liverpool have conceded nine goals in their last three games. They have kept three clean sheets all season, conceding 20 times in 12 Premier League matches.

Only the bottom four teams have conceded more than that.

Liverpool's attack is blunt right now and the only balance to that is solidifying the team. Concede fewer goals and suddenly there's less pressure on the forwards to bag three per match.

Endo can provide that. He can be the sitting, defensive midfielder who makes life easier for those around him. It's the role he excelled at in short bursts last season but more importantly, he excelled in it from the start of matches under Jurgen Klopp.

He was an inspired signing and exactly what the Reds needed at the time. We've got to believe he can still be that and that having him in that role would simply make Liverpool more difficult to beat.

Because that's the real problem right now. Liverpool aren't just struggling in games, they're outright losing to everyone and doing so in a manner we've never witnessed before.

Endo is the start of fixing that problem. Maybe he won't turn Liverpool into a winning team from the start but he can at least make them harder to beat.

After just one Premier League start in 18 months under Arne Slot, it's time to count on their forgotten man.
