Liverpool are now nearing a mega agreement for Alexander Isak.

In another world the Swede would already be playing for the Reds. If it would not have been for Newcastle's incompetence in the transfer market this summer, Isak would be lining up for Liverpool.

But of course, the Reds have also had the chance to sign him in the past. Notably in 2022 the recruitment team pushed to bring him in over Darwin Nunez, but in the end the Uruguayan was chosen.

Before that, Liverpool had followed Isak's career closely at AIK and wanted to sign him but he chose Borussia Dortmund.

So this pursuit continues. Though at last it seems like it's finally coming to an end. Liverpool are getting closer and closer to getting their man.

A report from Spain backs this up.

According to AS reporter Eduardo Burgos on X, Newcastle are anticipating a mega second bid worth £130m from Liverpool.

In his report he claims that an 'agreement will be reached for €150 million (£130 million)' which is exactly the bid that they are expecting from the Reds.

In the report, it's also added that Liverpool are confident that the deal will go through.

So based on that, it seems like Isak is closing in on a move to Liverpool and the agreement between the two parties is not very far away now.

And what a deal this would be. £130m is an incredible amount to pay for one player. It's going to be the British transfer record, surpassing Enzo Fernandez's and Moises Caicedo's transfer to Chelsea.

It's an absolute mega deal. As mega as it gets. Liverpool are big money players now. They've splurged on Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez as well.

That's because Richard Hughes wants to deliver success for now. Not later. In this present moment while Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are still at their peak.

For Isak this is a dream transfer. A deal he clearly is desperate to make happen and he has done his bit. He's worked very hard to make his demands loud and clear.

Now the rest is up to Liverpool and it looks like they are getting there. And Newcastle, too.

But they seem to have conceded to Isak's wishes. The report claims they are now making a move to sign Samu Aghehowa, who is the favourite to replace Isak.

Everything is coming together. Isak is just a matter of time.
