A Liverpool forward could be on the move in January according to recent reports.

The club's depth is already short in the department but it could be even fewer options for Arne Slot heading into the second-half of the season.

With Alexander Isak's injury ruling him out until towards the end of the campaign, Federico Chiesa is someone the club are very much relying on in terms of availability.

Against Fulham, Slot was without Hugo Ekitike, who missed the game due to a minor injury that should mean he is available for the club's next game on Thursday against Arsenal.

But ultimately, Slot's options are thin. He's struggling to find the right profiles for his system. He's just struggling to find numbers in general.

Although part of the blame must also be on him.

It is Slot's preference to have a smaller squad. It is also his preference to not play certain players. Chiesa hardly ever gets game time. He also doesn't like to give young players a chance.

Rio Ngumoha could have had plenty of opportunities to play, but he hasn't really been granted any substantial time on the pitch, even though the club insisted in the summer that he would be there to compete alongside Cody Gakpo for the left-wing spot.

It's important to mention Liverpool also have a number of young forwards at academy level who are ready to break into senior football.

Will Wright and Jayden Danns have struggled with injuries, but Keyrol Figueroa is an option and he has been banging in goals for fun for the U21s this season.

He has seven goals in nine games in the Premier League 2 and has even sat on the bench for the club's first-team.

But it looks like he won't be staying and being given the chance to play more games at first-team level this season because he could actually be in line to make an extraordinary move to Italy's top flight on loan.

A report in Honduras from Once Noticas claims that Italian side Parma are keen on taking Figueroa on loan and are considering a move for him.

Liverpool of course did business with Parma in the summer signing Giovanni Leoni. We know Richard Hughes has strong connections in Italy.

But moving from Liverpool U21s straight to a Serie A feels like an extraordinary deal for Figueroa. One that may also be a step too big.

Parma are 15th in Serie A and they are fighting for relegation. They also have four strikers on their books already. Throwing him into that environment doesn't seem wise.

It's also moot how many opportunities he would be given. So, perhaps another move might work better for the 19-year-old.

A surprise January exit would be a risky move given Liverpool’s already thin attacking depth, and it could make Arne Slot’s challenge even tougher in Monkey Mart the second half of the season.
