Arne Slot and Richard Hughes will need to be asked a lot of questions if Liverpool don't end up finishing in a top four place.

The Reds were one of the Premier League's most dominant teams last season with only Paris Saint-Germain proving to be a worthy opponent.

Of course, towards the end of the season Liverpool's form dropped off a bit, but, when since the Premier League title was already sealed and their hopes of further Champions League progression went up in flames, it was hardly a surprise to see the club take their foot off the gas.

Plenty of changes have already occurred at Anfield this season and now, it seems like the fate of one of their forwards has been sealed.

Federico Chiesa is set to stay at Liverpool for the foreseeable future

Federico Chiesa's future has been questioned since the 2024-25 January transfer window came around last season.

The Italian was brought to Anfield for around £10 million and although most fans thought that Liverpool had just got themselves the bargain of the season, he's not really managed to meet expectations.

With this in mind, questions about his future have remained with Juventus at the front of the queue to get a deal over the line.

And, when Lewis Koumas was recalled from his loan with Birmingham, some fans thought that this could mean the Italy international was finally on his way out of Anfield.

However, after a fresh update from journalist Ben Jacobs, it's clear that that isn't the case.

"Liverpool winger Lewis Koumas is due for a medical at Hull City today ahead of a loan move," he wrote via his personal X account.

Federico Chiesa is likely to stay due to Liverpool's lack of attacking depth

Although Chiesa is good enough to get regular playing time with another top level club, it seems like he's destined to stay at L4.

When called upon by Slot he's often done himself proud and made his presence more than known.

And, despite the poor form of players such as Cody Gakpo, the Italian still hasn't been given all that much of a chance at the club.

Even when Mohamed Salah was representing Egypt at AFCON Chiesa rarely got a look in with his manager often preferring to start either Dominik Szoboszlai or Jeremie Frimpong there instead.

Despite the fact that Slot chose to use anyone but Chiesa at right-wing, it's clear that with Koumas on the move, Liverpool wouldn't have enough depth in their attack to see out the season.

This is obviously good news for Liverpool as it means that they'll have an experienced player to call upon if he's needed.

And, even though Chiesa may be happy at Anfield, there's no doubt that he'd be much happier if he was playing first-team football on a regular basis.
