Liverpool forward can be the best in the world and he is showing it

Liverpool have broken the bank to improve their forward line, but their best attacker has been at the club for years.

Alexander Isak, Bradley Barcola and Florian Wirtz have all arrived at Anfield for over £100 million in the last 18 months, and Hugo Ekitike wasn’t an inexpensive acquisition either.

The Reds’ most dangerous attacker this season has been Cody Gakpo however, and the Dutchman has been a fixture at Anfield for a long time.

After coming close to swapping Merseyside for Manchester this summer, the 27-year-old has cracked on with Liverpool, and he’s now shining on the international stage too.

Having already scored twice and assisted four times for the Reds, Gakpo scored an injury time equaliser for the Netherlands on Thursday night, and it was a screamer.

The Dutchman already has a contender for ‘assist of the season’, and his goal against Germany will certainly be right up there as one of the best goals scored this season.

His exploits on the international stage are just further proof that Gakpo is quickly becoming one of most in-form forwards in world football.

Currently recording a goal or an assist every 77 minutes for the Reds, the forward is at the height of his powers under Andoni Iraola and things will only get better as the rest of the team settle under the Spaniard.

The most important part of Gakpo’s current form is the goals he has created for his teammates, as the team drastically missed the creative exploits of Trent Alexander-Arnold last season.

Gakpo’s great performances have made the likes of Isak even better, and that is why the Dutchman is both Liverpool’s best and most important attacker right now.
