Liverpool didn't take too long to finally agree a deal. It took a day of negotiations this week and now it's sorted.

So deals can be done quickly. Liverpool have taken their time to get things over the line this summer, with the debacle surrounding Yan Diomande a prime example.

We've also seen the Bradley Barcola talks drag on and on and on - there's still hope there, but Liverpool are running out of time to get it over the line. That's been the case with so much at Anfield this summer, including the futures of their own players.

Is Cody Gakpo sticking around? No one is sure. Tottenham Hotspur do want him but whether that translates into a completed deal, no one knows.

But it does appear that things can be sorted quickly when everyone is keen. Curtis Jones moving to Inter is proof of that, with Liverpool striking a deal this week to send their homegrown talent to Italy.

The Athletic reports that it didn't actually take that long in the end. Inter made an approach on Wednesday morning, signalling an intent to get things done and it all moved quickly.

It was sealed by the end of the day and now Jones is all set to sign for Inter. He'll head there on Thursday before a medical on Friday - after which, we imagine it'll be announced.

While losing Jones is a blow, it's something that does at least offer hope. Get a breakthrough and a deal can happen very quickly, which we do expect to see happen a few more times over the next 10 or so days.

Liverpool need it to, too. Their squad is already in poor shape and now they're losing a player who played thousands of minutes for them last season, with very little talk about a replacement.

The clock is ticking but things can move quickly. Jones proves that - so let's see about that Barcola deal.
