Liverpool star in MASSIVE training return today

Arne Slot has confirmed a massive training return on Friday. Exactly what Liverpool need ahead of the Manchester United clash.

Liverpool host Manchester United on Sunday in one of the biggest clashes of the Premier League season. And this one has a bit of extra weight behind it, with both teams needing to prove something.

United will arrive at Anfield knowing their performances have been better than their results. That only counts for something if they can get some serious points on the board, though, as their only wins have come against 10 men or promoted teams.

Beating the champions is exactly the kind of statement they need. Though, they'll be up against a Liverpool team that's fired up after three consecutive defeats.

Once again, those results haven't reflected the performances. Liverpool's perfect start to the season has been interrupted by this string of defeats and it needs putting back on course ASAP.

Beating United is probably the best possible way of doing that, quite honestly. And the Reds have had a boost ahead of it.

Ibrahima Konate returns

Arne Slot confirmed on Friday in his pre-match press conference that Ibrahima Konate will return to training on Friday. The defender picked up a problem in Liverpool's last game against Chelsea, needing to go off early with the thigh injury.

"Ibou has come back to us and has started his sessions again and is expected to train with us today," said Slot.

It was a worry. Konate did go off with France for the international break but didn't play - in fact, he didn't train.

They decided to take no chances with him, releasing him early and letting Liverpool manage the defender. That naturally created concerns that Konate wouldn't be fit to face United, either.

However, it seems France have done Liverpool a massive favour here. Having Konate in the squad, let alone starting, is a huge boost as the Reds are short at centre-back as it is.

Fingers crossed, then, that training goes smoothly.
