Liverpool have had countless fan-favourites over the years and it's always sad when they leave.

A few years ago, we had to come to terms with losing James Milner, who was fundamental to the start of the Jurgen Klopp regime performing as well as it did. He could fill in across the starting XI.

Then we had Divock Origi, one of the most clutch players of all time, popping up with late finishes to decide games and making an impact whenever the manager rolled the dice and gave him a chance.

Currently, we've got Federico Chiesa whose trying to revamp his career after a struggling spell at Juventus and Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo, who has already written himself into LFC folklore.

While the Italian is currently one of the few attackers Arne Slot has available, the situation isn't quite as rose for the 32-year-old veteran, who might be on the brink of departure after a three-year stay.

Endo set for his last dance

According to Lewis Steele at the Daily Mail, it's likely that a central midfielder will be on Liverpool's shopping list in the summer, which is as sure a sign as any that Endo is going to leave the club.

This season in particular, the Japanese midfielder has managed to get just 271 minutes on the pitch.

Last season wasn't much better either following the introduction of Ryan Gravenberch as Slot's primary defensive midfielder, with Endo getting 904 minutes across 32 appearances - 28 per game.

He's been steadily edged out after playing major role in Klopp's farewell season, and we're not even getting the mini end-of-game cameos that Slot afforded him throughout the title win earlier this year.

At 32 years old, it's understandable that he's approaching the end of his career and his game-time should reflect that, but the fans are barely seeing the veteran at all now. When you consider Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Gravenberch are all being muted for new contracts, it's clear where the club's priorities are, and Curtis Jones has come into his own since he's been promoted.

Endo might have to make way for someone else to come in and freshen up the squad, which means he'll likely have just six months left of Premier League football before Richard Hughes lets him go.

It's not out of the question that the Japanese star could be afford the opportunity to see out his deal until 2027 - after all, he only cost £16m back in 2023. If that were the case, then his last dance would be postponed for a while. What's certain, however, is that we're nearing the end of his time with us.
