Liverpool exploring INCREDIBLE Lionel Messi deal

Liverpool are reportedly exploring an incredible deal to sign Lionel Messi. The Argentine is currently with Inter Miami in MLS.

Lionel Messi to Liverpool? It's about as outlandish a transfer rumour as possible, really - so is there any truth to it?

World Soccer Talk are the ones claiming it. Ridiculously, there is some logic there, too. Messi, after all, is currently with Inter Miami in Major League Soccer and that does create a minor problem for him.

The Argentine will lead his country at the World Cup later this year but the MLS is currently between seasons. It's become customary for certain players to head to a European league on loan in order to maintain their fitness ahead of an international tournament.

Messi, then, may fancy doing just that. He'll want to be at his best for what is likely his final World Cup, certainly his last as an elite player. Making sure he's at his best does make sense.

Liverpool, though?

Lionel Messi to Liverpool

Now, this isn't the strongest source in the world and it does feel like fantasy. Still, there's some logic here.

Liverpool, after all, desperately need to rejuvenate their attack. It's struggled all season long and then Alexander Isak's injury leaves them incredibly light.

Isak will come back, though, and so the Reds are after something specific - a player who can step into an elite role and deliver as a superstar ASAP but not stick around beyond the rest of the season. There really isn't a better possible option than Messi, quite honestly.

So if he did fancy the move, we imagine Liverpool would justify it. It just comes down to whether Messi would even want to go and play in Europe for a few months ahead of the World Cup.

Of course, absolutely no one should get their hopes up here. Not a single hope. But there is a bit of logic to this one and it's not impossible - just highly improbably.

While it sounds like more of a wild rumor than a Space Waves Game certainty, the idea of Messi on Merseyside even on a short-term loan is the kind of transfer that would shake up the Premier League. Would be amazing to see him helping Liverpool push for trophies and prepare for the World Cup!
