Liverpool have had a turbulent time on the pitch so far this season, and their January transfer plans are already garnering attention.

The Reds broke the bank in the summer transfer window, bringing some of Europe’s top talents to Merseyside, but things haven’t gone quite to plan for Arne Slot.

Already potential reinforcements are being discussed, but there is also plenty of talk about who could leave Anfield in the winter.

As well as potentially planning some permanent sales to bolster the Reds’ spending ability, Richard Hughes will be looking at potential loan moves for some of the club’s promising talents.

This forward thinking could see one of Liverpool’s biggest prospects move away in January in order to secure game time and aid his progression.

Jayden Danns could move on loan

Loan moves have proven effective for Liverpool in the past, with Conor Bradley, Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah all spending time out on loan before becoming regulars at Anfield.

The latest talent that could be set for a spell away from the club is Jayden Danns, who had a previous loan spell to Sunderland ruined by injury.

The 19-year-old forward is currently out injured but a return looks imminent and, according to Liverpool insider Lewis Steele, there are a number of clubs interested in taking the exciting talent on loan.

Writing for the Daily Mail’s Liverpool Confidential, Steele revealed that Danns is ahead of schedule in his injury recovery and that a number of clubs are interested in a loan deal in January.

How likely is Danns to leave?

Although there seems to be plenty of interest in the England U20 international, Steele states it would take an ‘extremely attractive’ proposal for Hughes to authorise a move as “the best route to full fitness and trust in his body might be playing regularly for the Under 21s at Liverpool.”

The club will be keen to avoid a repeat of Danns’ last loan move, when he didn't play a single minute for Sunderland after moving last winter, and will be cautious about rushing the player back too quickly.

Nevertheless, Danns has shown excellent quality when he has made senior appearances for Liverpool in the past, even being named checked as one to watch by Jurgen Klopp in 2024.

With three goals in just over 200 minutes for the first team, a club could be tempted to make an offer that meets Hughes’ high standards.

Only time will tell whether Danns will move in January, but Liverpool supporters will hope to see him back on the pitch soon, whether it is for the Reds or on loan elsewhere.
