Liverpool complete first steps towards mammoth €100m spend
Liverpool have put in the initial groundwork for another massive spend. What's €100m more?
Liverpool put up an awful lot of money in 2025 as they attempted to improve on their title-winning squad. That was never going to be particularly easy and few could question that they signed elite players.
However, things haven't meshed together as planned. Liverpool aren't the world-class team they hoped to be, despite putting out over £400m on new players.
It means they'll almost certainly adjust things in 2026 and the only real question is how much they want to spend doing that. How much, after all, does this squad need?
Does it need minimal tweaking to get it flowing? Or are more major changes needed to reshape it to the top level?
If reports are to be believed, Liverpool are leaning towards the latter.
Liverpool’s €100m spend
Reports in Brazil, such as from ‘The Football’ claim Liverpool are at the front of the race for Allan of Palmeiras. That’s a deal that will likely cross the €40m barrier in the summer, given a €35m offer from Napoli was rejected in January.
But Liverpool won’t stop there. Bild claims they’re also in contact with Eintracht Frankfurt over left-back Nathaniel Brown.
Brown is viewed as one of the best young left-backs around, with Arsenal also pursuing the player. His price would apparently be around €65m - a mammoth amount for another left-back.
In all, then, Liverpool have taken the first steps towards €100m’s worth of deals here. They’ve made contact on both counts, and received price details.
It still feels unlikely, though. Surely? Another €100m and neither deal would even address the centre-back situation as Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez could both leave this summer.
We’ll see what happens, then. But it does look likely that Liverpool spend quite a fair bit more this summer. The signs are there.
