A generational striker is coming to Liverpool.

Liverpool’s recruitment has taken a noticeable step forward since Michael Edwards returned, with the club now operating in a much broader and more ambitious way when it comes to identifying talent.

Instead of focusing mainly on the usual markets, Liverpool have expanded their scouting reach across the globe. The club is now actively tracking players in regions and competitions they previously didn’t prioritise as heavily, which has opened up a wider pool of emerging prospects.

That shift has already started to show in their recent business. Players like Armin Pécsi, Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Mor Talla Ndiaye have all joined as part of this more global approach. On top of that, Sidy Barhama Ndiaye is also firmly on the radar. He even spent time training with Liverpool last summer, and unless something changes, he’s expected to officially join once he turns 18.

A big part of this strategy has been focusing on youth tournaments and spotting talent early before it becomes widely known. Liverpool’s recruitment team have been particularly active in that space, moving quickly when players catch their eye.

Both Ndiaye and Ndukwe stood out at the U17 World Cup, while Daniel Banjaqui is another name from the tournament in Qatar who has attracted interest from the club.

And if recent patterns are anything to go by, those players probably won’t be the only young talents Liverpool’s scouts are keeping tabs on.

Edwards and his recruitment team want to build a generational team. Pedro Marques and Julian Ward have played a key role in youth signings as has Matt Newberry, who is the head of Liverpool's Global Scouting network.

Importantly, as well as focusing on worldwide talents, Liverpool have also stuck to their roots.

They have always wanted to exploit the homegrown and domestic market, and have done it very successfully over the last decade or so.

From Raheem Sterling to Rio Ngumoha, there have been many success stories of Liverpool attracting the biggest players in the UK in their age-group.

Last summer, the Reds brought in Will Wright, who has made a very promising start to his Liverpool career and even made the first-team bench a couple of times towards the end of the campaign.

This summer will see the arrival of Dara Jikiemi, but he won't be the only one coming to Liverpool.

According to David Lynch, teenage striker Michael Mulholland, who once scored 256 goals in a single season will also be joining Liverpool from Northern Irish club Crusaders.

Mulholland is only 15-years-old, so it will be some time before he will be joining the first-team. For now, the likelihood is that he will be joining Liverpool's U18 side where Vincent Joseph is expected to leave the club, and Mulholland will likely replace Josh Sonni-Lambie, who is going to be making the step-up to the U21 side.

The youngster is regarded as a generational talent, who scored three goals in four games for Nothern Ireland's U15 side and is already playing two age-groups above his own having made his debut at U17 international level as well.

Make no mistake about it, this is another exciting arrival for the Reds.
