Euro giants to accelerate move for 'superb' Liverpool sensation

Liverpool are sixth in the Premier League table at the moment.

The Anfield outfit are six points adrift of league leaders, Manchester City who have managed to win all five of their top flight games so far.

Obviously, Enzo Maresca's men are one of the favourites for the title this season thanks to the sheer amount of money they spent in the summer but, with their next Premier League game coming against the Reds, that could all be about to change.

At the moment, most of Liverpool's summer signings are still adapting to Andoni Iraola's style of play and, even though Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo have taken like ducks to water, more still need to come from their other additions, especially Bradley Barcola.

But, with there still being so many gaps among their ranks and a fair few areas that need improving, the fact that some of the Reds' first-team squad are being linked with a move away feels like a good sign.

That is, especially when it's a player that Liverpool want to get rid of.

Real Madrid are finally ready to make their move for Alexis Mac Allister

Last season, Alexis Mac Allister was easily one of Liverpool's worst performers.

In almost every game he featured in, it felt like he'd forgotten how to run, tackle and score.

And, since his role within Arne Slot's starting XI was fairly central to the Dutchman's operation, things didn't go to plan.

However, during the 2026 World Cup, he managed to find his feet again and, since his return to L4, he's probably been Liverpool's best midfielder.

But, since his contract is going to expire in 2028, his future is far from decided and because Liverpool don't want to offer him a new deal yet both parties are at a bit of a crossroads.

That is, up until this recent update from Football Insider emerged.

"Speculation about Mac Allister's long-term future at Liverpool has led to suggestions that clubs could try to capitalise on his situation when the 2027 transfer windows open," they wrote.

"A number of clubs in the Premier League and across Europe have been linked in the last 12 months, and could now be tempted to accelerate moves for his signature.

"Football Insider revealed ahead of the summer transfer window that Real Madrid have been keeping a close eye on Mac Allister's situation and could finally make a move.

"Los Blancos have been long-term admirers of the Argentina international, and despite never having made a formal offer, have been plotting a move behind the scenes.

"Mac Allister, meanwhile, has never ruled out a move to the Spanish giants and has previously left the door open to the switch, inviting the growing possibility of a move.

If Liverpool aren't going to offer Mac Allister a new contract, they need to sell him as soon as possible.

As mentioned, the Argentinian is now in the final two years of his Liverpool deal which means that, as each day goes by, his value is dropping.

The midfielder may be in some of his best-ever form at the moment but, since he's 27 years old and rather inconsistent, it's unclear what is going to happen to him and his future.

But, with the Reds' stance seemingly being fully against giving the midfielder a new deal, they clearly need to move him on.

And, with Real Madrid now ready to finally make an offer for him, now feels like the best chance the Reds will have at getting rid.

Lamine Camara is probably high on Liverpool's shortlist to bring in as Mac Allister's successor but, recently, several other players have also been linked with a Liverpool switch.

Nobody knows what Liverpool will end up doing but, with the way that things seem to be headed, the "superb" midfielder's future with Liverpool doesn't seem like it's going to last much longer.
