There's an update on Mo Salah doing the rounds. We don't think you should trust it.

Mohamed Salah went off injured against Crystal Palace. It's an incredibly rare sight and a potentially heartbreaking one - Salah will leave Liverpool after this season and the injury puts his remaining fixtures in doubt.

So was that the final time we see Salah in a Liverpool shirt? Well, that's the claim out of Egypt. The Egyptian national team doctor says their star player has a hamstring tear that rules him out for four weeks.

Now, maybe that's true. Maybe Salah is done. It's just very suspicious that Liverpool's no.11 would pick up an injury that rules him out for exactly the remaining time on the season.

Liverpool's final fixture, and thus the last Salah could play, comes literally four weeks to the day. The suggestion from Egypt, then, is that he'll miss the remaining days of the club season but then, like magic, he'll be fine to go again.

That would massively suit Egypt. They've got a World Cup to play and don't want Salah getting injured ahead of that - they'd rather he rested up and then joined them after the domestic season.

It's just very suspicious that the Egyptian National Team doctor believes that exact situation is playing out. That Salah will miss the rest of Liverpool's season but then is fine to link up with Egypt and participate fully at the World Cup.

So we'll wait and see what Liverpool say. As Virgil van Dijk says, you never really know with Salah - he could surprise everyone and recover in record time.

Mohamed Salah: Situation Summary

Liverpool Performance and Injury Update

As of 28 April 2026, Mohamed Salah’s storied Liverpool career appears to have reached a premature end. During the 3–1 victory over Crystal Palace on 25 April, the 33-year-old was forced off after 59 minutes with a muscle injury. Egypt’s national team director, Ibrahim Hassan, confirmed on 28 April that Salah has suffered a hamstring tear requiring four weeks of treatment, effectively ruling him out of Liverpool’s final four fixtures. He concludes the 2025/26 campaign with 12 goals and 9 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions, including seven goals in 25 Premier League games.

Transfer Confirmation and Future

Salah has officially announced he will leave Anfield this summer, ending a historic nine-year tenure. Despite having a contract until 2027, Liverpool have agreed to a mutual termination to allow him to depart on a free transfer. Al-Nassr has emerged as the frontrunner, with manager Jorge Jesus reportedly eager to pair Salah with Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané. While offers from Italy and France persist, his camp is expected to announce his next destination within days.

International Standing

Despite his injury, Salah’s participation in the 2026 World Cup is not in jeopardy. He is expected to be fully fit for Egypt’s opening match against Belgium on 15 June.
