There is no one who can replace Mohamed Salah right now.

That's why Liverpool decided to extend the Egyptian's deal for the next two years. Salah is still at the peak of his powers. He has been the best player in the Premier League this season, if not the world.

It was simply the best decision for all parties to keep him at the club. But Richard Hughes and his recruitment team are no fools. They know you can't snooze in football.

Salah is getting nearer to the end of his career. He's set to turn 33-years-old this summer. He may still be at the same level that he is right now in two years time but that is not guaranteed.

Eventually, like everyone else, Salah's power will wane.

But Liverpool don't have to worry, he's replacement has already emerged and he's someone who Arne Slot has played a key role in getting him to where he is at the moment.

Yes, we are talking about Yankuba Minteh, of course. This weekend he netted his 10th goal contribution in the Premier League, making him the only U21 player in the league this season to reach double figures.

The Brighton winger played his formative years under Slot at Feyenoord becoming the youngest Gambian to score in the Champions League last season.

Dubbed as the 'Gambian Messi' back in his hometown, Minteh's development under Slot at Feyenoord has allowed him to flourish at Brighton this season after signing for the Seagulls.

He's become a really efficient player. Left-footed and capable of playing as a right-winger as well as a wing-back at times for Brighton this season, Minteh's work-rate and energy is second to none.

He puts in so much defensive work, tracks back all the time and using his electric speed he's able to press his opponents really high as well.

That energy also gives him a superpower in possession. Minteh is elusive on the ball. He's really hard to stop when he gets going. There's a reason why people likened him to Messi in the Gambia.

Just look at how well he ranks in terms of his on the ball ability among the Premier League's elite here. Minteh is simply a sensational player and Slot will know that first hand.

Now, it looks like he's adding more goals to his game as well. His latest goal against Newcastle United was very Salah esque.

As we said above, there aren't any players in world football right now who can replace Salah. But if Minteh continues to develop at Brighton, in a couple of years, maybe he could be ready to fill the Egyptian's shoes.

And if that time comes, Slot's presence, having worked with him in the past could be the key factor in convincing the Gambia to link up with his old boss at Anfield.

It's therefore the Dutchamn who is destined to deliver the player who is pretty much the perfect replacement for Salah.

It's a move to keep an eye on. Minteh has all the ability and potential to be Liverpool's Salah 2.0. Someone who could absolutely explode in the red shirt.
