One wonderkid finally has the chance to impress as confirmed by Arne Slot.

Liverpool's head-coach has been a lot more strict when it comes to his usage of the club's academy. Under Slot not many Liverpool youngsters have been given a chance to showcase their worth on the pitch.

Jurgen Klopp was often like a second-father to Liverpool's academy players. He gave them a lot of confidence and trusted them to make the step-up.

Slot is a lot more different. In fact throughout his career he has been a lot more reluctant to play players from the academy. He was the same at Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar.

The Dutchman seems more interested in the now, and his current first-team players. He hasn't quite developed youngsters at the same rate and with the same ability as Klopp.

But Liverpool's latest injury crisis could force his hands. Right now the club's squad is running out of options, especially at right-back.

Conor Bradley's injury means there is not really a recognised right-back option at Liverpool. Jeremie Frimpong may have been brought in to play that position but he seems far more comfortable to play the right-winger role and that's where Slot seems to trust him as well.

Joe Gomez could also play as a right-back. But that then leaves no back-up centre-back option for Liverpool on the bench considering Giovanni Leoni is also out injured.

So what could be the alternative solution?

Playing Dominik Szoboszlai out of position at right-back?

Again Liverpool don't exactly have a lot of depth in midfield either. If Szoboszlai is having to play as a right-back, it means the other midfield options apart from Wataru Endo all also have to be on the pitch, leaving just the Japanese midfielder and Trey Nyoni on the bench.

Slot was asked about this situation in his press conference against Burnley on Friday morning, and more specifically he was asked about whether he could use Calvin Ramsay.

The Liverpool head-coach confirmed that while he has other options he prefers in the position right now, the door is open for Ramsay to finally make his mark in the first-team.

"It's great for him where he is at the moment. Half a year ago he came back and was in the U21s. It's a big chance he's having now to come to first team," Slot said.

"When someone is unlucky with injuries someone has a chance and that's the case with Calvin. But I still think I have better options to play, but when I was running out of options he's already shown he's good enough to be in and around our players."

So, there is a chance for Ramsay to make his mark now. Especially because the likelihood of Gomez or Frimpong picking up injuries is high, leaving Slot with no option but to play Ramsay.
