Are Liverpool signing BREAKOUT striker with 18 goals in 17 games?

Liverpool are looking at strikers right now but will one of Europe's hottest goalscorers move to Anfield? Arne Slot is a massive fan.

Alexander Isak's injury essentially forces Liverpool to consider new strikers in January. The Reds will already have their eyes on signings once the transfer window opens but that injury changes everything.

After all, this season was built on the idea of having two elite strikers. The Reds are now down to just Hugo Ekitike as a centre-forward option and if he goes down, then what?

It would be one thing if Liverpool were flying and not wanting to change things much. They absolutely aren't, however, and they continue to try and find the right blend of players in their team.

The Isak injury provides an opportunity to look for a new forward - but it appears one of the best-performing in Europe right now won't be arriving at Anfield.

Liverpool not signing Ayase Ueda

1908.nl, a website that's as reliable as it gets for Feyenoord news, claims Ayase Ueda will not be heading to Liverpool this January. In fact, they question whether the Reds are all that interested.

They list several reasons why Liverpool won't be snapping him up. Feyenoord don't want to sell a striker with 18 goals in 17 league games, for one, while it's understood that elite teams don't necessarily view the Eredivisie as somewhere players can quickly adapt to the 'elite' level from anymore.

Above all, though, they say there hasn't been any contact from Liverpool and it's not believed that the Reds hold concrete interest. This comes after certain outlets claims the Reds could look at the Japan international.

And we imagine they have. Ueda's record is absolutely sensational - it's worth noting that none of those goals have come from the penalty spot, either. But Arne Slot is also a big fan.

Dutch journalist Hans Kraay Jr claimed earlier this month that Slot believed Ueda had fantastic potential. Ueda played under Slot at Feyenoord in the coach's final season there, appearing 26 times in the league.

"Arne Slot—credit where credit is due—has told us and me several times when we asked about Ueda’s potential,” Kraay told Voetbal Primeur.

“We really saw that enormous potential once, last season away against Benfica in the Champions League, where he was peerless. Slot could use a pat on the back at the moment. He was right.”
