Liverpool terms for Curtis Jones exit revealed

Curtis Jones' future is going to be one of the main subjects around Liverpool this summer.

The Scouser is one of the only Liverpool-born players to still be a part of the Reds' first-team squad after making his way through the academy and into their starting XI.

Most people thought that he'd stay with the Reds forever but, since he's 25 years old and has just been left out of England's World Cup squad due to a lack of playing time with Liverpool, it's hardly surprising to see that he's vying for an exit.

However, since he's about to enter the final year of his contract, Liverpool have little-to-no bargaining chips which means that Jones is probably going to be available for next to nothing.

In fact, the Reds' terms for a potential deal to be struck have just been shared and it makes for un-easy reading.

Since Jones is still young, he's got bags of potential to fulfil.

The Englishman was one of Jurgen Klopp's favourites with his performances even earning him an England appearance or two.

But, since he's been played out of position and has been left on the bench for others such as Alexis Mac Allister this term, he's seeking pastures new.

And, judging by the latest report that has been shared by La Gazzetta Dello Sport, it seems like Liverpool want him to go.

"Liverpool's asking price, for a player whose contract expires next year, is around €35 ​​million," they wrote.

"This is in line with the midfielder's market value, and perhaps even slightly lower, but not in line with his contractual situation. Inter, on the other hand, is well aware of every aspect of the deal and has allocated a budget of around €22 million (€25 million maximum with the inclusion of some bonuses) for the Englishman's acquisition.

"They are, incidentally, supported by the agency of "The Team," the same company that Inter worked with just a year ago when negotiating for Akanji and perhaps also in the future for Bologna's Jhon Lucumì. The stumbling block, before the deal can be finalized, is Jones's sell-back clause.

"Inter intends to set it at a low percentage, while Liverpool would accept a slightly lower fee up front for a higher return in the future."

Liverpool may be one of the most well-known clubs in the world but their sell-to-buy model is holding them back.

Indeed, the transfer model that they currently follow makes a lot of sense as it means that they'll never get in trouble with the Premier League for PSR.

However, since they had to sell over £200 million worth of players to spend the £450 million they did in the summer, it's hard to see how they'll generate those sorts of funds again.

That is, especially since Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah are all leaving for nothing.

Despite this, at least four or five new signings are already needed by the Anfield outfit which makes their job this summer even harder.

And, even if they do get a decent sell-on fee by selling Jones, that doesn't help them at the moment.

Especially since the club will need to sign someone to replace Jones as well as challenge Ryan Gravenberch as Liverpool's number six.

There are so many questions that need to be answered this summer but, if Jones is allowed to exit, one of the biggest ones will be how can they possibly replace all these players without disrupting the performances of their team once again.
