Liverpool tried to make moves for several players in the January transfer window.

It was clear that Arne Slot's men were struggling with the demands of the 2025-26 campaign which led fans to demand that Fenway Sports Group spent some money on new additions.

And, while a couple of moves were attempted, nothing came to fruition.

Since then, more and more rumours have started to emerge with Liverpool seemingly being linked with new arrivals every other day.

However, the pain of missing out on an Anfield switch has seemingly stuck with one of their January transfer targets with his agents even being 'discontent' about the failed transfer.

Denzel Dumfries' agents are not happy that he didn't get his dream Liverpool move

Liverpool's defence has had a massive question mark hanging over it this season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold chose to exit Anfield at the start of the summer and, since then, Liverpool have tried to fill the void he left behind.

Indeed, Jeremie Frimpong was supposed to do that but because he's been injured so often, he's not managed to prove his worth.

That's why in January, Lutsharel Geertruida and Denzel Dumfries were both linked with a move.

Obviously, neither transfer ended up taking place with Slot just making do.

However, as per a fresh update from Calcio Mercato, it seems like Dumfries' agents aren't happy that his move to L4 failed.

"Has Dumfries changed agent again? Not at all. As we've been writing for some time now here on Calciomercato.it , the Inter full-back's true and only agent is his father, Boris," they wrote.

"He has been so since he broke up with Wasserman , with whom he also went to court. From that moment on, he took full control of his son's power of attorney, relying on various intermediaries to place him elsewhere.

"Or rather, to try to fulfill his Premier League 'dream' : from Jorge Mendes to Ali Barat 's Epic , with the latter trying to place him in England as early as last January.

"Specifically, at Liverpool , but ultimately unsuccessfully, and that's perhaps where Boris's discontent arose.

"It must be said that the Italian De Fanti , equally strong in England, has also been gravitating around the Nerazzurri number 2 for some time, and it's no longer a mystery. But let's repeat: the real agent is none other than Boris, the father."

Denzel Dumfries would be an interesting signing for Liverpool

Dumfries is basically the polar opposite of Liverpool's other transfer targets.

The right-back is a fairly one dimensional player and even though he has been used at centre-back, he's much better when used as a right-back.

He's also 30 years old which, now that Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are both leaving, would make him one of the oldest players in the squad.

Indeed, a sprinkle of experience is needed among every team and, since Dumfries has a release clause worth around £20 million, it's a signing that makes a lot of sense.

We'll have to see what happens this summer but, since Slot often brings his fellow countrymen to Liverpool, it would hardly be a surprise to see him in Red next term, especially if his agents push the move through.
