RB Leipzig's latest update now means Yan Diomande's move to Liverpool could be on.

Ever since the Ivorian teenager confessed his admiration for the Reds, he's been on the lips of everyone.

Diomande's come and get me plea, has catapulted him to the top of the wishlist of the supporters at Anfield.

It's easy to see why. He is on the club's radar. Scouts have watched him extensively. Richard Hughes knows him from his time at Bournemouth, where Diomande went on trial before joining Leganes, and Liverpool need exactly the type of player he is.

Diomande is direct, he's good in one vs one situations and he is extremely quick.

He can play on the right, he can play on the left-wing. Having that versatility and being comfortable with both feet really makes him standout as the ultimate candidate.

The only obstacle in the way is RB Leipzig.

They only signed Diomande in the summer. They have him tied up on a long-term contract, and they won't want to see the back of him just yet.

So, only a very huge offer will convince Leipzig to sell him. Liverpool do have the financial means to make that happen.

They invested a lot in the summer but they also sold a lot and they still have assets who they hope to make money on. Mohamed Salah's sale is expected to bring in a lot of cash in the summer, when he goes to Saudi Arabia.

Leipzig are a selling club. They have never stood in the way of their talents and it looks like they are already preparing for the inevitable loss of Diomande.

This month the German side secured the future of Suleiman Sani. He arrives from Trencin in the Slovakian top flight. He's only 19-years-old and he can play on both flanks.

A very direct winger, Sani has the speed and the flair that makes his profile very similar to Diomande.

Interestingly, RB Leipzig's reporter Philipp Hinze has claimed that despite the arrival of Sani, the German side are not open to letting Tidiam Gomis go out on loan, despite him now likely becoming the fifth choice winger at the club.

Leipzig only play with two wingers but as Hinze highlights they could enter the second half of the season with five options in Diomande, Gomis, Sani and Antonio Nusa as well as Johan Bakayoko.

This would be a tremendous amount of depth in the position. It's also a move that definitely means Liverpool's hopes of getting Diomande, even this month, is now on.

Otherwise why else would Leipzig rule out a loan move for Gomis? Surely, the reason why they won't loan him is because they know that a deal could very well happen for Diomande before the window shuts close and they want to protect themselves to ensure they will still be adequately stocked in the case the Ivorian leaves.

So, now it's in the hands of Richard Hughes and his recruitment team.
