Liverpool are set to sign Sidy Barhama Ndiaye, but just who is he?

Anfield Watch exclusively revealed that the Senegalese youngster is training with the Reds at the moment. Ndiaye has also featured in two pre-season games for the club's U18 side.

In a friendly against Fleetwood, Ndiaye made his unofficial debut for the Reds and registered an assist playing just over 30 minutes. Deployed on the left-wing, Ndiaye made a brilliant run to set-up Joshua Sonni-Lambie for Liverpool's third goal of the game.

He immediately stood-out for his speed and his direct playing style.

Meanwhile, on Saturday Ndiaye came on in the second-half during Liverpool's 4-2 victory over the Steven Gerrard Academy, and he topped that performance with an incredibly well-taken goal.

Ndiaye latched onto a loose ball after a looping cross from Lenix Conde. The young winger used his speed to close down his opponent then play a one-two to break into the box and finish the ball into the corner of the net.

So, he's clearly catching the eye. But just who is he, and when can he join Liverpool?

Ndiaye is only 15-years-old. He was born on December 31st 2009, which means as per FIFA rules he cannot officially join the club until January 2028, after he had celebrated his 18th birthday.

It is understood Liverpool have an agreement in place to sign him on his 18th birthday. Until, then Ndiaye can train with the club for up to eight weeks in a calendar year as permitted by FIFA rules.

In terms of his profile, he caught the eye at the U17 African Cup of Nations for his speed, and dribbling ability. Ndiaye averaged close to nine dribbles per 90 minutes while he was on the pitch and looked electrifying when in full flow.

He's predominantly a right-footed left-winger, which is where Liverpool have deployed him at academy level but he has played as a right-winger for his country.

Ndiaye was the youngest player at the U17 African Cup of Nations this year, and it's expected that he will be involved with Senegal at the U17 World Cup as well, where again he could be one of the youngest players at the tournament.

This is one of the reasons why he's regarded as one of the best young talents in Africa at the moment.

There are hopes that he could follow in the footsteps of Sadio Mane. His playing style definitely shares resemblance to the former Liverpool winger.

But there's a long way to go for Ndiaye. He's still very young, and a lot can happen in the next few years.
