Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was impressed with a piece of skill from Reds winger Luis Diaz during the recent Premier League Merseyside derby.

Liverpool defeated Everton 2-0 at Anfield. However, it was not the goals from Andy Robertson and Divock Origi which got Carragher out of his seat.

In fact, it was a moment of brilliance from Diaz, which you can see in the footage below.

Carragher said the following during Sky Sports' live coverage of the match after the aforementioned incident: "Wow, what was that?!"

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool signed Diaz from Porto for a transfer fee of £40.50 million back in January. So, the winger has only been at Anfield for a few months.

However, Diaz has taken to life on Merseyside. He has already scored four goals and registered three assists in 18 appearances for the Reds.

Diaz has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.39 in the Premier League (nine appearances).

It does take some foreign players quite a bit of time to adjust to a new culture/league. But, as we have pointed out, that has not been an issue for Diaz.

To be fair, we probably shouldn't be surprised by the Colombia international's rise. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp did make it clear that he had signed a very good player.

“First and foremost nothing happened apart from we brought in a really good player,” the German said when Diaz signed for the club, as quoted by The Guardian. “It’s really nice to have these kind of options."

The exciting thing about Diaz is that he is only 25 years of age. With that being the case, it would be fair to assume that he will only improve as a player over time.
