Steven Gerrard has just emphatically told Arne Slot what to do to save his job at Liverpool.

Let's be honest, the Dutchman's job is on a thin line at Anfield. The defeat to Wolves was evidence of that on Tuesday night.

You don't lose five games after the 90th minute, setting a Premier League record and not be under pressure.

Liverpool's Champions League spot is under threat. If the Reds do not qualify for the Champions League, it's difficult to envision a future with Slot as head-coach of the club.

Even if they do quality, and the Reds do not win any trophies, it's still difficult to see Slot being given a chance to continue at the helm.

Given how poor of a season this was and how out of touch Slot seems, especially when it comes to breaking down rigid low-blocks, it just seems like change is inevitable.

But there is a way he can rescue it all and Gerrard himself told Slot what to do in commentary on Tuesday night.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Gerrard said the following:

“For 65 minutes Liverpool were desperate tonight, really poor," Gerrard said.

“They didn’t create enough, and they didn’t play at the right speed or tempo. They didn’t have enough quality."

“He has to start Ngumoha now. He has to start because he’s coming on and he’s doing more in a short cameo, a short space of time, than Cody Gakpo’s doing in 65-70 minutes.”

“He deserves a start now. He’s got to start the kid on Friday.”

Ngumoha may have been on the pitch for a brief moment but he completed more dribbles (2) than Gakpo and also came a lot more closer to scoring than the Dutch star.

Gerrard is right. Ngumoha may only be 17-years-old but from the beginning of pre-season he has shown that he belongs in the first-team.

Ngumoha started the summer with five goal contributions in five games during the pre-season campaign. He dazzled Liverpool's opponents with some exquisite performances.

Then he delivered on the main stage, scoring that last-gasp winner against Newcastle United.

That was supposed to be a watershed moment. However, it hasn't turned out that way. Ngumoha's time has been limited with the first-team ever since.

Even though in the rare instances when he does play, he's been brilliant.

Ngumoha is a difference maker. And if Slot wants to save his job, he has to play him more because it may be the only way Liverpool become a better team going forward.
