Star shares Jurgen Klopp's advice as Liverpool plot £88m agreement

One of Liverpool's top transfer targets has spoken of advice from Jurgen Klopp after a whirlwind year. The Reds reportedly want to sign him for big money.

Liverpool will do further transfer business in 2026 - that's guaranteed. Though, it's unclear how much of it will happen in the winter window.

One player they certainly have an eye on, though, is Yan Diomande. The winger signed for RB Leipzig in 2025 and has quickly become one of the most talked-about players in Europe.

Still only 19, Diomande looks like a massive talent - one capable of doing incredibly difficult things already. He's up there with the best dribblers in Europe, for one, and has added goals to his game.

Diomande averages 0.81 goals and assists per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga this season. It's a fantastic rate and given he literally turned 19 last month, highlights him as a major prospect and one every top club wants.

Again, though, Leipzig only signed him in the summer. In fact, Diomande has a grand total of 24 league matches in his career, having broken through at Leganes early in 2025.

Jurgen Klopp's advice to Yan Diomande

Goal have put out a profile on Diomande as speculation grows about his future. It contains quotes of his advice from Jurgen Klopp, who called the player soon after his signed for Leipzig.

"I couldn't believe it at first!" said Diomande. "I've admired Klopp since his time in Liverpool.

"He's a great person, and suddenly on my first day here, he tried to call me. I hope he wasn't upset that I missed answering at first! But luckily, it worked out after that. He said I was still young and should be patient. My time will come."

It turned out that Diomande didn't need to be all that patient - he's already a regular for Leipzig. He's set to finish the season with an incredibly impressive record, too, and one that may see him move on after just one year.

The Goal report mentions a fee of £88m is sought by Leipzig. Liverpool are one of the club supposedly looking incredibly closely at Diomande and it's easy to get the impression that they'd sign him ASAP for the right price.

Of course, other clubs will do all they can to make that difficult. But Diomande is unquestionably one to watch for Liverpool fans and possibly their next star signing.
