Real Madrid have their eyes on another Liverpool star. He hasn't even been a Red for a year yet!

Liverpool just cannot escape Real Madrid when it comes to the transfer market. Or the UEFA Champions League, for that matter.

But the former has been a real problem for the club in recent times. Just last summer, Trent Alexander-Arnold departed Anfield for Madrid after running down his contract.

Half the Real Madrid squad could have been lining up for Liverpool, in fact. The Reds talked with Kylian Mbappe, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Rodrygo Goes, Dean Huijsen and Jude Bellingham before their moves there.

They all, like Alexander-Arnold, chose Real Madrid. A constant problem for Liverpool and one that doesn't appear to be letting up at all.

Reports in Spain suggest they're targeting one Liverpool star before he's even celebrated his anniversary with the club.

Real Madrid like Florian Wirtz

Defensa Central reports that Real Madrid would love to sign Florian Wirtz. Though, there's an admittance there that Liverpool would want an unbelievable amount of money to sign off on that.

Wirtz only joined Liverpool back in June and did so as the club's first-ever nine-figure signing. There's essentially no chance that he's be available for anything less than a world-record fee, quite honestly.

But this is typically how it starts. Real Madrid were linked with the playmaker before his move to Anfield and reports like this keep the idea in peoples' minds.

It's a common tactic with star players. In fact, we're also seeing it with Dominik Szoboszlai right now, and Alexis Mac Allister.

Real Madrid like to keep the door open for players by using the press and we imagine that's what's happening here. A campaign to keep the narrative alive that Wirtz is a Real Madrid player in waiting, just in case such a possibility becomes realistic down the line.

For now, though, this won't go anywhere. Wirtz is the future of Liverpool's attack and, arguably, the future face of the team. He's going nowhere.
