Richard Hughes to GREEN LIGHT deal after Mo Salah return
Richard Hughes is to green light a deal for Liverpool. It'll only happen once Mo Salah returns to the club, however.
The transfer window has been open for around a week now. Liverpool, though, are yet to strike anything significant in either direction.
That's despite the fact they probably need to. The Reds' season has been a poor one, with no real consistency and few genuinely strong performances.
Even when winning games, Liverpool haven't looked 'right'. It comes after a gigantic summer spend, too, which certainly gives the impression of a squad that doesn't quite gel together.
Thus the winter window offers a chance to fix that. Liverpool have got to reshape things once again, boosted by the knowledge of what their summer signings are lacking.
And it sounds as though the starting pistol could be fired soon.
Federico Chiesa out, Mo Salah back
There’s been a lot written in recent days about Federico Chiesa potentially heading back to Italy. It’s something that was also said all summer, of course, but the winger decided to remain at Anfield.
It now looks increasingly likely that Chiesa heads back there this month, however. Corriere Dello Sport claims it, as does Gazzetta Dello Sport, with both suggesting Juventus are the destination.
However, everyone will have to wait a bit here. Both outlets claim that Liverpool will want Mo Salah back in the squad before letting Chiesa go - so this one will sit on the sidelines until Egypt are finished at AFCON.
There is still some negotiating to get through - a loan with some sort of option looks probable - but there’s clearly some time to sort that. Salah’s return almost certainly means the end of Chiesa in Red.
It’s only a matter of time.
