Liverpool faced a lot of change in the summer with some of their new signings only just finding their way at Anfield.

Since the 2025-26 season kicked off, questions have been asked about whether the Reds were going to be as dominant again and to be honest, there was a large chunk of time when it felt like they weren't.

Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and even Florian Wirtz all failed to impress in the first half of the season which led to questions about whether Liverpool managed to get any of their recruitment right or not.

Liverpool also moved on a large chunk of their team in the summer with some fans wondering whether so much change should have happened all at once.

Despite all of this, talk about Liverpool's future transfer windows has remained consistent and now, the future of one Anfield ace seems to be set in stone.

Kostas Tsimikas' future lies away from Liverpool

When Kerkez was signed by Arne Slot and Richard Hughes, it was clear that either Andy Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas would need to be moved on.

For most of the window, everyone expected the Greek Scouser to be sent away but, there were a couple of weeks when it looked like Robertson could join Atletico Madrid.

In the end, the Scotsman stayed put which meant that Tsimikas joined AS Roma looking for some game time.

Things started off well at the Stadio Olimpico but over the last couple of months, he's been left out of the team which has caused even more questions to arise.

And now, as per an update from The Athletic, it's clear that Tsimikas' future lies away from Anfield no matter what.

Although some fans have questioned whether the Greek Scouser could come in and take over Robertson's place as back-up, it's clear that that isn't going to be the case.

The report from The Atheltic states that Nottingham Forest are looking at new full-backs with Tsimikas on their 'list of targets' for January.

Roma 'would be willing' to let Tsimikas leave as long as they can source a replacement before the window slams shut.

How does this news confirm that Kostas Tsimikas' future lies away from Liverpool?

With Robertson's future still unsolved, it doesn't really make sense for Liverpool to make any final decisions about Tsimikas just yet.

However, since the Greece international isn't quite at the level that Arne Slot desires, if the Red can get any sort of fee for him, it may be worth thinking about.

And, with rumours emerging about Tsimikas exiting Roma halfway through his loan deal, it's clear that Liverpool aren't too fussed about what happens with the left-back.

The fact that there's been little-to-no talk of him filling the void left by Robertson's potential departure is also very telling and to be honest, it doesn't feel like there's a way for the 29-year-old to get back into the Reds' plans.

Although this is a sad development, the left-back has more than served his purpose since being signed by Jurgen Klopp and now feels like the best time for both parties to go their separate ways.
