Richard Hughes has been at the heart of some of Liverpool's biggest transfer deals over the last couple of years.

The Englishman actually broke the British transfer record with the Reds twice last season after bringing in Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.

These additions were supposed to turn Liverpool into a super team that everyone feared but, in reality, they were all bark with no bite.

However, now that Andoni Iraola is in charge, this is all hopefully about to change as that new manager bounce could mean everything to the Anfield outfit.

But, without adding some more players to his ranks, the Spaniard won't get that far which is exactly why Hughes needs to step things up a gear or two and finally confirm the transfer of one of Liverpool's long-term targets.

Yan Diomande's camp have a lot of 'frustration' about how long his Liverpool transfer is taking

Yan Diomande is the perfect successor to Mohamed Salah for Liverpool.

The 19-year-old is an attacker who can play on either wing but, his ability to beat his man with his lightning quick pace and his ability to put the ball into the back of the net is exceptional.

In fact, his recent performances for RB Leipzig have even earned him some comparisons to greats of the game with Gary Neville and Ian Wright even dubbing the way he plays 'scary.'

Liverpool have been the team in the driving street for his transfer for as long as many can remember but, a fresh update from Lewis Steele has shared that there's now "frustration" emerging from Diomande's camp about how long the deal is taking to complete.

"I think there’s a little bit of frustration on the player’s side from what I’ve heard that it’s maybe taking a little bit longer than some people may have anticipated," he said.

"I’m talking about his camp.

"Maybe they thought it was going to go a bit quicker, but now they’re sort of resigned to the fact it might drag on after the World Cup, but they accept it.

"But also, you never know. Liverpool could just pull their finger out, and it’d be done in the next day or two."

Liverpool will miss out on Yan Diomande if they're not careful

Liverpool may be the front runners for Diomande's signature but, that doesn't mean that they can take things slowly.

Of course, they'll want to get the best deal for the attacker so it makes financial sense but, if they truly believe that he can become their next Salah, they should throw everything at bringing him in.

Just looking at his contributions during his two World Cup games for Ivory Coast proves how good he actually is and why the Reds want him.

Other clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain have also registered their interest in the attacker but, since they already have an abundance of world-class attacking options, Diomande joining them doesn't make much sense, especially if he wants to be a regular starter.

Of course, if they move on someone such as Bradley Barcola then the race could easily open up again which is precisely why Liverpool need to make their move for Diomande now, before it's too late.
