"The Portuguese Football Federation has asked UEFA to hold a minute's silence ahead of our national team's match against Spain in the Women's European Championship on Thursday.

Jota joined the Reds in September 2020 from Wolves. In the red shirt he won the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.

For Portugal he was a two-time UEFA Nations League champion - including a title just last month.

Diogo married his wife, Rute Cardoso, on June 22 2025, just a few days before his death. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Rest in peace Diogo Jota and Andre Silva.
