On his way to Liverpool? Star now finally set for massive transfer
The stars seems to be aligning for an exciting attacker to join Liverpool.
The end has arrived. Liverpool’s Egyptian King has chosen to leave Anfield for pastures new, and now the club faces the daunting task of finding a successor.
But this won’t be a simple handover.
Unlike the old days, when you'd look to replace someone like-for-like, Liverpool appear ready to move away from that model entirely - shifting instead toward a collective approach.
The reality is, you don’t truly replace someone like Salah with a single player.
What you can do is spread that influence across multiple signings, and arguably, Liverpool have already begun that process over the past six months.
Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak are central to that plan, while Yan Diomande is also expected to play a key role and is currently a major target for the club.
Still, he’s not the only name under consideration. Liverpool are casting a wide net, and rightly so, it makes far more sense to reinforce the attack with several options rather than relying on just one addition.
Salah wasn’t just a prolific scorer for Liverpool, he was a constant menace on the right flank, someone who could both create and influence games.
He had an instinct for finding dangerous positions in and around the box, regularly unsettling defensive structures and forcing opponents out of shape with his movement.
On top of that, he was a top-tier creator. His ability to produce chances was just as valuable as his goals, which is why Liverpool must look to recruit a winger with similar creative quality.
Replacing that overall impact won’t be easy. The club needs someone who can bring that same attacking spark and unpredictability from wide areas.
So who fits the bill?
Magnes Akliouche.
On paper, his numbers may not seem like much, but there’s a lot more to Akliouche than meets the eye.
He’s not going to score a crazy amount of goals, but he is going to get into the right areas in the opposition’s final third to penetrate defensive lines.
Akliouche is the type of player who thrives in and around the edge of the penalty area - just like Salah. He showcased this during his recent outing for France, getting himself an assist against Colombia on Sunday night.
The youngster can make brilliant runs to find himself in space and he’s an excellent connector between the attack and the midfield.
Importantly, he loves to create chances. Whether it’s supplying the box with crosses or making cut-backs from the byline, Akliouche is the type of facilitator who would bring out the best in Isak and Ekitike.
His technical qualities are simply sublime. His first touch is exquisite and he can really dictate the dynamics of the game. When he's going up against players in one vs one situations, he's hard to stop.
On top of that, he’s also a hard-worker, ranking in the top 10 Ligue 1 players for possession won in the final third (1.10 per 90 minutes).
At 24-years-old, he’s entering his prime years and Liverpool have been linked with him recently. They were also linked with him at the end of last season.
And now L'Equipe are reporting that Akliouche is now finally set to make a massive transfer in his career and leave AS Monaco this summer.
Could that mean he's on his way to Anfield?
Only time will tell. But with Liverpool's previous interest, Salah leaving and Akliouche being prepared for a move, the stars do seem to be aligning.
