All good things come to those who wait. This is definitely apt for both Liverpool and Alexander Isak.

All summer both of them wanted this deal to happen. But they had to be patient and ultimately it went right down to the wire with Liverpool completing his transfer from Newcastle on the final day of the window.

Isak didn't have much time to get used to his new surroundings either. As soon as he put pen to paper on his Liverpool deal, he flew to Sweden to prepare for international duty.

Sweden will play Slovenia on Friday night and Kosovo on Monday night with Isak expected to be involved.

He's already been participating in training sessions with his teammates and while he has missed a lot of competitive football, and an entire pre-season, this is a good opportunity for him to start to get back into shape.

That will continue at Liverpool. Isak will return after his international duty on Monday. Liverpool's first training session is not expected until Thursday.

This is according to a report from the Daily Mail, who have gone into detail about Liverpool's brilliant plan for Isak, which could even see him make the squad for the Reds' first game back next Sunday at Turf Moor against Burnley.

The Daily Mail's Lewis Steele writes that the expectation is for Isak to train with his new teammates on Thursday next week and then be on the bench against Burnley.

He also adds that at this moment in time Liverpool are not planning a specialist fitness regime for Isak.

Liverpool will not rush Isak either. The club's performance lead Ruben Peeters will be keeping a close eye on his levels and he may be eased into training sessions.

The Reds will be taking everything step by step. They paid a lot of money for Isak and because of Newcastle's hesitance to sell him, it's obvious that he will need time to get back to the match sharpness with which he ended the season.

Ultimately, though given that Liverpool have a gruelling schedule heading into the second half of September with a game every three or four days as the club begins their Champions League and League Cup campaigns, there will be a lot of matches coming thick and fast.

Isak will have to be managed with caution. Fortunately, Arne Slot has other options so there is no pressure on the Swede. Hugo Ekitike has proven he has to be a starter in this Liverpool team. Jayden Danns is getting back to fitness and could also be an option. Federico Chiesa has shown he can also make an impact.

It's brilliant to see that Liverpool are not going to put a lot of strain on Isak, and that he will already be able to train with his teammates and be involved with the squad against Burnley.

We simply cannot wait to see him in action.
