Liverpool wonderkid BREAKS incredible Trent Alexander-Arnold and Rio Ngumoha record
A special talent has broken an incredible record at Liverpool.
The club's academy has produced a lot of talented players over the years. Most of these players at one point in their careers were the darling of the Kop.
From Robbie Fowler to Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard and more recent Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The latest talent is Rio Ngumoha. He already has fans chanting his name inside Anfield, with the regular chorus of 'Rioooo, Riooo, Rioooo.'
The teenage super talent has already broken several records and he will hope to be in the same conversations as those aforementioned academy graduates.
But Ngumoha is not the only young Liverpool player who is worth keeping an eye on. There's another youngster who just broke his record.
In 2014, when Trent Alexander-Arnold made an appearance against Real Madrid in the UEFA Youth League at just 16 years and 28 days old, it was an unprecedented feat.
Few would have envisaged the record being broken given Alexander-Arnold was so young, he was still only in Year 11 in school.
The club's former no.66 held the record for almost ten years until Ngumoha broke it last season making an appearance for Liverpool in the competition at 16 years and 19 days old.
Unlike Trent Alexander-Arnold though, Ngumoha's record did not hold out for as long.
Liverpool already have another special talent coming through in Joshua Abe, who broke the record again on Tuesday night when he was introduced as a substitute in the knock-out round game against MSK Zilina.
Abe was just 15 years, six months and 17 days old setting an incredible record and beating Ngumoha by a total of six months and two days.
That's quite an achievement and it speaks volumes of the youngster's talent. The week previously, Abe trained with the first-team and followed that up with a brace for the U18s in the U18 Premier League.
He has six goal contributions in seven games for Liverpool at that level.
Obviously, there's a lot of speculation about his future. Abe's contract expires at the end of the season and he is yet to sign a scholarship deal with the club, meaning he is free to join a rival.
Manchester City and Chelsea are both interested in him and could move to sign him.
Liverpool are clearly trying to show that there is a pathway for Abe at the club. Ultimately the decision rests in his hands. It would be a real shame to lose a player of his talent. But there is nothing else Liverpool can do.
