His transfer would be the cherry on top of Liverpool's already title-winning team. Hopes of retaining their domestic crown would be bolstered significantly and sustained success could be expected.

But he remains a Newcastle player for the time being, and for good reason. They are not willing to sell him and even if the Magpies could be tempted to lose him, it would be for around £150m-£200m.

Attempts to keep him on Tyneside are currently based around offering him a contract that would make him the highest paid player at the club. But even that might not be enough to keep him.

However, Liverpool are also capable of offering him a similar wage package, so what happens now?

Liverpool know how to secure Isak

In a Q&A session on Isak at Chronicle Live, an insight was shared about how the Reds could sign him.

Lee Ryder, the website's Chief Newcastle United writer, said: "I don't think he [Isak] will push for a move. I think his head could be turned if Liverpool start bandying £350k a week his way, though.

"It is a short career for a player. If he keeps banging goals in at this rate, he will get more and more interest. Liverpool have not bid yet but nobody at Anfield is shutting this story down either."

As such, regardless of what the transfer fee might, but the wage package is what matters for Isak.

Per Capology, the Swede is currently on £120,000 a week, so Liverpool would be tripling his wages, but it seems as though Newcastle are attempting to offer his a similar contract to tie him down.

In order for the Magpies to do this, they would need to demolish their wage structure, as top earner Bruno Guimaraes is only earning £160,000 a week, whereas Liverpool are in a far better position to offer such an amount. On Merseyside, the best in their position are rewarded accordingly.

Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Florian Wirtz are all on substantial rates, but as one of the Premier League's best strikers, Isak would fit in well. Can Newcastle really offer him that?

Despite having such high earners on their books, Liverpool could offer him what he wants. Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa's departures would make £260,000 a week available, just like that.

Isak is a standout striker? In which world. I'd take Nunez ANY DAY.
