West Brom want deal for 28-year-old Liverpool defender
Liverpool could opt to move on from several centre-backs this summer. There is a contract conundrum to solve with Ibrahima Konate for starters.
The Frenchman is out of contract in 2026 and so far no new deal has been agreed. If Richard Hughes cannot strike a deal with the 26-year-old’s representatives then the Reds could be forced to offload him.

Then there’s Jarell Quansah. The 22-year-old made a decisive first-team breakthrough under Jurgen Klopp but wasn’t able to capitalise on that individual success under Arne Slot.

Although he finished the 2024/25 season as a Premier League title winner, Quansah fell down the pecking order and has been touted as a potential summer departure.
If Liverpool receive a decent offer from Bayer Leverkusen - or any of the England under-21 international’s Premier League suitors - then he too could be off.
Nat Phillips' Liverpool days are numbered
Joe Gomez, meanwhile, came close to leaving the club last summer with bids entertained from Aston Villa and Newcastle.
At 28, and with one more season of injury disruption behind him, it’s not difficult to see the curtain being brought down this summer on the England man’s decade at Anfield.
And there is also one more centre-back who could see his Liverpool days end in this transfer window. Nat Phillips, 28, enjoyed a stellar season out on loan at Derby County - and is available for transfer this summer.
WBA want Nat Phillips
The homegrown defender - who became a cult hero at the club during the 2020/21 season - is wanted by West Bromwich Albion in the Championship. That’s according to a new report in the Express and Star.
“Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips is among those to have been linked after spending last season on loan at Derby,” reads the report.
“The 28-year-old, who has made 19 Premier League appearances for the Reds, is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield.”

Phillips has played 29 times for the Liverpool first team - amid loan spells at Stuttgart, Bournemouth, Celtic, Cardiff and last season at Derby. He enhanced his reputation in the second tier - playing 32 times as the Rams fought off relegation.
