Liverpool agree URGENT transfer needed

Liverpool are in agreement - an urgent transfer is needed at the club. That's according to new reports today.

Liverpool appear to have reacted to yet another defeat with an admission that another transfer must happen. And that's entirely understandable given the circumstances.

The Reds sunk to a 3-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest in what might be their worst home result since the pre-Jurgen Klopp era. It was an awful display - one where the team in 19th had a comfortable control over the game.

That's now six defeats in seven Premier League fixtures. Liverpool are in their worst period of form for a very, very long time and no one could deny that change must happen.

What that says about Arne Slot's future is one thing but the club's first move appears to be in the transfer market. They've agreed that a new signing must arrive.

Liverpool to agree transfer

Caughtoffside is one of a few outlets reporting that Liverpool will try to sign a centre-back in January. The Reds are in agreement that such a move should happen after Giovanni Leoni's injury left them light.

But there's also the fact that Joe Gomez doesn't appear to be a serious option to start in the Premier League. Ibrahima Konate's form has been erratic, too, with brilliant performances followed by worrying mistakes.

And so Liverpool will move to bolster their defensive options for the second half of the campaign. That means they'll look at a series of options, with the report naming Marc Guehi, Nico Schlotterbeck and Antonio Silva supposedly on the shortlist.

Now, completing deals for them won't be easy. Schlotterbeck would cost a fortune, while Guehi may fancy waiting out his contract and becoming a free agent in the summer.

Still, Liverpool must sign someone if they're to find solidity at the back. The current options aren't doing it for various reasons and Slot doesn't seem content with them.
